Blog Guidelines: For the first two blogging assignments, students were to share a rough draft blog with me through Google Drive. After I provided comments on editing, I advised them to make the appropriate corrects and then post to their blog. This was part of our formal writing strategies component of the project. It is important for students to "code switch" for appropriate audiences.
Blog Writing Areas of Focus:
1. Appropriate and relevant title for the entry
2. Clear and concise information explaining the 20 Time work for the week- People who read blogs want short and specific entries, not overly verbose entries
3. Formatting specific to blogs- keeping it interesting- must include a relevant form of media (picture, video, etc..)...no "selfies," cite all sources, hyperlink all organizations and materials as appropriate
Once a student has demonstrated proficiency in blogging and editing on their own (usually after the first two entries), that student may post directly to his blog for all other entries. I continue to meet with and edit the work of individuals who still struggle with certain grammatical aspects of writing.
